Ari Rex is an international award-winning photographer based in Canberra. He is regarded as a leading professional in his field.
Born in Vlore, on the south coast of Albania, Ari's interest in photography started when he was a little boy. His father had an old Zorki camera and Ari was fascinated by it. Since then, his passion for photography has continued to grow and expand.
Ari's first dream was to become a soccer player like his older brother. Ari played with Flamurtari (the team of his city Vlora, which was one of the top teams of Albania, winning the Super League in 1991). When Ari was 15 years old he was selected to play for the Albanian National Soccer Team.
During the last decade Ari's unique work was been noticed and recognised nationally and internationally. His latest achievement are, The 2020 Nature Photographer of the Year and 1st Place Gold Award in Professional Astrophotography 2019 at the prestigious IPA International Photography Awards.
In 2020 Ari represented Team Australia – 2020 World Photography Cup Winning Team and in 2021 Ari won the 1st place at the APPA Australian Professional Photography Awards SLA in "Manmade” category.
Ari holds an Advanced Diploma of Photography from CIT Canberra. He is fluent in Italian, Albanian and English
Ari is an adventurer, driven by perfection. His love and talent for photography has enabled him to work in many genres. A selection of Ari's clients include; Cathay Pacific, Foxtel, Canon Australia, National Archives of Australia, BP, Hudson, Macquarie University NSW, Tourism Australia, Visit Canberra, Telstra and Geocon.
For Ari, there is nothing as magical as when the camera captures the full splendour of the Milky Way arching over the horizon. It is a skill he loves to share through specialist courses for those keen to perfect their own experience of capturing the stars.
“I appreciate the often unseen beauty of everyday life, and I strive to capture that in every picture. I want my audience to feel a connection to my photographs through the story that they are trying to tell.”
"Only at night, we realise that we are part of something much bigger. At night you see the stars, the Milky Way, nebulae and galaxies that are thousands of light-years away; and that makes you see everything in perspective. This is also what feeds me physically and spiritually when I go out at night to photograph the stars."
