What You'll Learn
Great photography is created both in-camera and during the editing process. Ari will guide you through the techniques, workflow and creative decisions behind professional images — from planning and capturing the photograph to producing the finished image.
With more than a decade of teaching and mentoring experience, Ari has worked with photographers at every level — from complete beginners to highly accomplished photographers seeking advanced guidance in specialist areas such as Milky Way and night-sky photography.
Your mentoring can focus on camera technique, composition, Milky Way and night-sky photography, Moon photography, lightning and storms, star trackers, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, post-processing, image critique and workflow — or another area of photography you would like to develop.
Bring your own images for an honest critique, troubleshoot a technique or piece of equipment, learn Ari's approach from planning through to final edit, or work together on developing your own photographic style.
Mentoring can also go beyond making photographs, including portfolio development, competition images, exhibition ideas, creative direction and developing your photography business.
There is no fixed lesson plan. We start with where you are now and what you want to achieve, then build the session around you.

Award-winning photographer and experienced photography educator Ari Rex has spent over a decade helping photographers improve their skills and create stronger images.
Recognised internationally for his astrophotography and creative work — including Nature Photographer of the Year, International Photography Awards recognition, and multiple Australian Professional Photography Awards — Ari brings extensive experience both behind the camera and within the professional photography industry.
Ari has also been invited to judge photography competitions and awards, including the Australian Photographic Prize (APP), providing insight into the elements that transform a good image into an outstanding one.
With an Advanced Diploma of Photography from CIT Canberra and over a decade of teaching and mentoring experience, Ari's one-on-one mentoring is designed around your images, your goals and your creative vision.
